The Challenge Cinequest is one of the top 10 film festivals in the world and a digital filmmaking advocate. They offer an eclectic menu of films in several genres from across the globe. The challenge in their 15th year was to create excitement across the region for the festival in an atmosphere of incredible competition for the consumers’ entertainment dollar and decreasing movie attendance nationwide. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley and one of the nations leading proponents of digital entertainment, Cinequest must simultaneously reach technically savvy and affluent consumers.
The Solution Tager Group initially joined the team’s marketing and branding committee and provided direction and solutions that were used across all marketing, publicity and fund raising initiatives. Next, Tager Group developed a print campaign that helps target the essence of the audience and the Cinequest brand. Tager Group created the campaign theme: “Two Amazing Weeks Where Geek and Chic Meet.” The campaign also included a departure from their previous creative design to a cleaner and more contemporary look. Results Cinequest enjoyed a record-breaking event, generating the highest attendance and revenue in its 15 year history. The Ad campaign was a key factor in increasing box office sales by 34 percent over 2004’s event.
